Biography

Marcus co-founded Fountain in 2009. His vision and passion for evidence based marketing is crucial to the company. With a background in copywriting, SEO, PPC and direct marketing, Marcus is also an experienced trainer and an accomplished public speaker.

His essential skill is his ability to create marketing strategies for clients that actually, definitively work. He is the brain behind Fountain’s approach to delivering returns through evidence based marketing – and he is passionate about making the marketing industry better.

To Marcus, marketing is all about results. He can’t abide the ‘fluffy approach’ that some marketers take. When working with clients he asks them how much they want to grow by, specifically, and then works backwards to create a strategy that allows them to hit their financial targets.

His favourite aspect of digital marketing is we can track everything, gather evidence and ensure no money is wasted.

“That’s what I love about marketing: finding people offering tremendous value and helping them reach more people. It’s what inspires me to keep going. At Fountain we are creating a team of passionate marketing consultants who want to help great organisations reach more people.”

Outside work, Marcus enjoys spending time with his son. He is an avid Norwich City fan and enjoys boxing and playing 5-a-side football. Having said that, Marcus never really switches off.

“I love my work. I’m always thinking about marketing – because it is about communication and sharing ideas in a way that is interesting and useful to the audience. Overall it’s about being interested in other people, their lives, their experience and how they perceive the world.”

Marcus is also passionate about taking action to slowdown and reverse manmade climate change. He was a County Councillor for the Green Party and in 2020, co-founded the Million Tree Pledge while recovering from long covid.

He has pledged to plant 1 million trees personally in his Ecologi Forest, and currently sits on the BIMA Sustainability Council. In 2022 he was named in BIMA’s top 100 influencers in the visionary category for his work on the climate emergency.
