One Million Trees
Our response to the climate emergency
Fountain have pledged to plant one million trees by 2025. This will absorb enough CO2 each year to cover the current annual carbon footprint of 1200 people in the U.K – or around 23 other businesses the size of Fountain.
This is in addition to our commitment to becoming a zero carbon business by 2025.
The reason we are planting trees is because eliminating our emissions is not enough. At Fountain we are led by evidence and data. This is not restricted to marketing.
On climate change, the science is clear:
Even if everyone in the world stopped producing CO2 today, we would still need decades of drawing down all the greenhouse gases we’ve collectively emitted over the last 200 years to avoid ecological collapse.
In other words, at the beginning of the 21st century, there are only two games in town:
Stop putting greenhouse gases in the atmosphere
Draw down what humanity has already put up there
The reasons we’re going way beyond the collective carbon footprint of our team is, as marketers who study human nature, we’re realists.
We know not everyone can do this, or will. Therefore we need to cover their footprints as well.
As businesses, we need to rise up and draw down. The World Economic Forum has called on entrepreneurs to help plant a trillion trees by 2030.
If you’re reading this and feel inspired to do the same, please speak to us. We’re encouraging others to take the million tree pledge as well.
Where will the trees be planted?
The Fountain Forest is planted using the Ecologi platform.
They work with Eden Reforestation Projects to pay local people in developing countries – such as Madagascar – to plant high CO2 absorption trees.
